It’s all about CHARACTER, isn’t it ???

Good character is taught and caught and the new DVD series Samuel L. Collins and the Search for Biblical Truths, helps you do both.   Imagine a DVD series combining the fun adventure of a Young Raiders of the Lost Ark, the high-tech gadgetry of Mission Impossible and the Scriptural conviction of Bibleman.  All of those elements are masterfully interwoven throughout Samuel L. Collins and The Search for Biblical Truths, a product line designed to reach Christian children and tweens.

Geocaching with Samuel L. Collins- How to place a Travel Bug

Hey guys,

As you know from my last post I’m in California (Los Angeles to be exact) working with my Dad.  Hollywood has been fun: we’ve done some quick sightseeing and hit the hotel pool to cool down, but alas, I still have work to do.  I have to go GEOCACHING and place that Travel Bug I found in Maryland a few months ago.

Well, here is my Geocaching video roll: Hope you enjoy!

Off on my BIGGEST event yet!

Today, something AMAZING happens.  Yes, that’s right- something AMAZING.

Today, I get to dress up in a suit and go to work with my Dad at a corporate event.  My father owns his own Audience Response business and for over ten years I’ve watched him get up early, get packed with suits and equipment and fly off to some unknown destination and run an ARS event.

Now, I’ve worked behind-the-scenes with my father for years.  I clean, quality control check, count and pack his bags to ensure he has everything he needs, and I even know how to run and build the software components for the events (I’ve helped out on almost every ministry event we’ve done in the last 5 years) but I’ve never had this opportunity to join him AT work.

Yes, today is special and I can’t wait to share ALL of what happens with YOU, my fans and readers.  Be back soon!

God speed,

Sam

So, is it SUMMER already? (update; and exciting news!)

About a month ago, I posted this post talking about how summer is on, but I’m still stuck in school.  Well, I’ve got great news: Mom’s letting me off the hook on a few subjects (isn’t homeschooling grand?) and said we’ll pick back up again August 1st.  Yeah! for me!  I can’t imagine what I’ll do with my time off.  Any suggestions?

Signing off to go play,

Sam

Geocaching in Virginia: What’s in the ammo box?

GEOCAHCING is like having a birthday!

Every time we go geocaching, I’m excitedly thinking, “What’s in the box?  What’s in the box?”

It reminds me of Blue’s Clues:

Blue's clues

Who remembers Blue’s Clue?

Present time, present time. Open it up and see what’s inside…

Well, on my last Geocaching adventure I found some neat stuff. Let’s see what’s inside…

See I told you it was neat!

Pizza: Chicago style (with our secret receipe)

When it’s just Dad and I home alone we like to play around in the kitchen and test new recipes for our favorite foods.  Last night we decided to try our best to make an authentic Chicago deep dish pizza.

Fashion nightmares or knock-outs: Part two

Okay, so a young boy writing about fashion received quite a bit of attention yesterday.

Someone posted that women too have to shave.  Okay, you’ve got me there, but FASHION is still overrated!

You rate these: nightmares or knock-outs?

Number One:

Number two:  (this could be my sister’s attempt)

See what happens when girls get too creative….

Either way you cut it, toilet paper = paper mache or mummy = NIGHTMARE!

Do your children have the ‘moral mustard’?

My Dad thinks I”m a good son (most of the time) but he also knows that I need boundaries.

Unfortunately, I can often weasel my way out of those boundaries and that is not ‘cutting the mustard’.

No Moral Mustard

I don’t always have the “moral mustard”…

Geocaching: What is it? (part 1/5)

Many of my friends wish they could tag along on my adventures around the world….

Samuel L. Collins fiilms in Bali

Hey, wait for me???

and I must admit it’s amazing to travel to the places I’ve been, but Geocaching is a great adventure of it’s own.  And it happens in every corner of the world, so even if the nearest State Park is the farthest from home you’ll ever get, you too CAN have your own FAMILY ADVENTURE….

So, in honor of SUMMER and VACATIONS, I’m going to write a series of blog posts that describe the “how-to’s” and “Joys” of GEOCACHING…

Geocaching: What is it? (part 1)

So, what is this family-fun activity?  It’s part ‘treasure-hunting’ part ‘scavenger hunting’ and part ‘hiking’.

Family geocaching

Doesn’t geocaching look fun?

Small and large ‘treasure boxes’ called CACHES or GEOCACHES

Here's what Geocaching containers look like...

Geocaching containers come in a variety of sizes and shapes

are hidden ALL over the world.  Yes, that’s right ALL over the world (over 100 countries including America), which means that no matter where YOU live- there’s probably a CACHE near you. 🙂

How many ‘treasure boxes’ are located around the world?  Around 2 MILLION.  Wow, that’s quite a LOT of treasure to go find!

Old fashion map with Treasure Box

Not like the pirates….

But the difference is we’re not PIRATES…. and we use modern technology!

How do we find the Treasure?

Modern technology has allowed us to move beyond paper and pen (thank goodness) and today’s Treasures are monitored by latitude and longitude in the world of Geopositioning technology (think Satellites in outer space beaming around information…).

Couple looking at Geocaching GPS

Hey, this way to the TREASURE BOX!

Each GPS (just like the one your mom uses in the car to find the grocery store) is a latitude/longitude mapping program that allows us to move from one location (home) to the next (the TREASURE box or cache)!

If we put in our home coordinates, we can use this technology to find ALL the CACHES in our area!  It really is that simple.  The GPS guides us to the CACHE and we scoop up all the loot!  Well, not really, but we’ll cover geocaching rules later.

So, are you interested?  I sure hope so.  Come back next Tuesday and we’ll cover Part 2: Getting Started.  I’ll cover topics such as:

* What you need to get started

* Where to find the GPS coordinates for the CACHES? and

* provide some links (by state) for more fun.

See you next week!

Sam

Not just a little, but a LOT!  I want juicy, mouth-watering Watermelon!…

watermelon

Yes, this is what I want!

and refreshingly cool and yummy Ice Cream!….

Samuel LCollins wants Ice cream

Doesn’t this look cool and refreshing?

and a MASSIVE, water-hogging Slip-and-slide contraption….

Samuel L Collins wants a slip and slide

Doesn’t this look like fun?

and to be done with SCHOOL.

school closed for summer

Yes, this is what I’m hoping for!

But JUST as I woke from this heavenly dream

I realized that I’m only on Unit 8 of my Apologia science book…. (out of 16!) and math, and Latin, and Geography, and History, and…..

Oh, weary me.  Shall I ever be done?

Kentucky’s Creation Museum episode is finally done….

Hi ho, the bells all toll, the episode is DONE…

It’s been a long time and a LOT of hard work, but our NEXT episode was completed yesterday!

Samuel L. Collins and the Search for Biblical Truths- Kentucky episode

Sam and Buddy Davis pose for our cover art for the Search for Biblical Truths television show shot on location at the AIG Creation Museum

It’s a fun episode about finding an old bone (Katie actually trips over it) and us solving the mystery of WHO’s bone it is.  SOCOM finds me in the middle of Kentucky and delivers my first clue and then the ADVENTURE begins.

It’s an all-creation, all-Kentucky episode that lands us at the AIG Creation Museum with Buddy Davis.
